Black And White (ConcussionGames) Mac OS

The Mac UI was inspired by early Smalltalk UIs, which had a black pointer (without outline). Most of both the Smalltalk and Mac screen was white, so a black pointer was more obvious. The Mac UI added the thin white outline so it would show up on better on the black regions of the screen (original Macs had only black and white screens). Greyscale is a feature of accessibility on iOS devices, Android devices, Mac OS X, and that's optional display mode that changes your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch screen to Black & white. It makes everything shown on you iDevice like photos, videos, games, apps, message, and the whole screen device to black & white. Black & White 2 + Battle of the Gods Expansion Mac DVD-Rom Video Game (2005) Game is complete and in good condition:.The case is in very good condition with minor wear. The Manual is in very good condition. The disc is almost clean Game is tested and working great! Please make sure you can run this game on your computer before buying! Then reboot your Mac. If it boots up now, one of those peripherals is the source of the plain white screen problem. However, if it fails and your MacBook won't load, check out other possible ways to wake up your Mac. Boot into safe mode. A safe boot feature in macOS and Mac OS X was designed for troubleshooting purposes. If you use Option-Command-R during startup, in most cases you're offered the latest macOS that is compatible with your Mac. Otherwise you're offered the macOS that came with your Mac, or the closest version still available. If the Mac logic board was just replaced, you may be offered only the latest macOS that is compatible with your Mac.

Learning has never been so easy!

One can manually configure Mac OS X Lion and Mountain Lion to default to Black and White printing, and have it return automatically to the Default Settings after printing with another preset.

Changing the Default Settings values is the challenge. Lion and Mountain Lion can be easily changed to automatically return to the Default Settings every time after printing.

Note: This How-to requires an Administrator login to complete at Step 10

22 Steps total

Step 1: Open Safari and enter http://127.0.0.1:631

The address 127.0.0.1:631 is where CUPS is located. If this is the first time accessing CUPS (the Common Unix Printing System) a warning dialog will be displayed.

Step 2: Open Terminal and enter the command in quotes above.

Terminal is located in the Utilities Folder which is found in the Applications folder. Enter the command inside the quotes on the web page and hit 'return'. If it is typed correctly the the Path $: should be repeated.

Close Terminal. Terminal in Mac OS is similar to the Command line in Windows and should not be left open.

Step 3: Refresh the Safari window to see CUPS

Command R or select Reload/Reload Page in the View menu. The CUPS menu should display.

Step 4: Select the Printers Tab

A list of all of the printers that have ever been set up on the computer should be here.

Step 5: Select a printer.

For me this works for Color laser printers and Copiers. My HP inkjet print drivers do no allow a Black only selection.

Step 6: In the Administration button choose 'Select Default options'.

The Administration button is located beneath the printer name. Click on it and select the 'Select Default options' option.

Step 7: Select the General Tab

This display is where the Color / Black & White option is found.

Step 8: Set 'Color mode:' to 'Black & White'

Color is not the only setting that can be changed. My standard configuration is:
Duplex: 'Long Edge'
Color Mode: 'Black & White'
Staple: 'Top left'

If the printer can not Duplex or Staple the commands will normally be ignored.

Step 9: Click on the 'Set Default Options' button.

Step 10: In the dialog box enter an Administrator's name and password

Finish by clicking on the highlighted 'Login User' button.

This dialog box may not display if an Administrator has already be in CUPS.

This can be the user's login if the user is an Administrator. It is becoming common for the user of a computer to be at a Standard level user. In this case it will be necessary to have an Administrator complete this dialog box.

Step 11: Defaults are changed

:)

Step 12: Making the computer always return to the Default setting is easier

Step 13: Start a Print job.

Using the open Safari window (or almost any printable window) select 'Print...' from the Edit menu or 'Command P'. In the bottom left of the Print Dialog box click on the 'Show Details' button if necessary (if the button is already 'Hide Details' then it is not necessary).

Step 14: With the Print menu in Show Details mode click on the 'Presets:' button.

Step 15: And select 'Show Presets...' from the menu.

Step 16: At the bottom of the dialog box select the check box for resetting to defaults

Select the check box for 'Reset Presets menu to 'Default Settings' After Printing. And click on the 'OK' button.

Step 17: Done.

The default printing session is now Black & White.

Now that the Default setting is B&W it it now necessary to create a preset for Color. This also can be done from the Print dialog box while the Details are showing.

Step 19: Make your changes to 'Printer Features'.

Step 20: Going back to 'Presets:' Save and name the new preset.

Choose 'Save Current Settings as a Preset...'. Name and Save

Step 21: Name it and click on the 'OK' button

Step 22: Cancel or Print and the setup is done.

Apple has not made this easy yet. The CUPS user interface has been improving with each update of OS X. Hopefully it will soon be as easy to make a change like this in OS X as it is in Windows.

Super directions!:->...We were stuck on getting the CUPS web page up ...I just wish there was a way to deploy certain printer settings to like 300 MacBook Air units all at the same time...Looks like it is going to be one-on-one basis..:-<

Thanks for this interesting info. Any idea why some options are listed twice in the printer properties? For example, for my Canon Pro9000 II, 'Grayscale printing' appears twice, and there's 'print quality' and 'quality' (both of which contain the same options).

A solution could be modifying the .ppd file into /etc/cups/ppd with a sed command. This is an example for a BizHub C654e :

    sed -i bak -e 's/DefaultKMDuplex: Single/DefaultKMDuplex: Double/' /private/etc/cups/ppd/.ppd

The -i creates a copy of the original file, useful if it doesn't work.

Terrific! Thank you for putting in this time. Helped me out.

Your Mac stuck on white screen and you desperately grab your phone to google solutions? As it mostly happens abruptly, you need to find the fast way to bring your Mac back to life. So, let's get down to work right away!

Why my Mac stuck on white screen?

Macs are reliable computers, but on the rare occasions they may encounter trouble and won't load. When this happens, you see a blank white screen, your Mac becomes pretty much unusable, and you keep asking yourself, 'Why won't my MacBook turn on?'

Usually, this happens after updating your operating system to a new version, when dealing with incompatible drivers, or if some applications fail to upgrade. This results in a blank screen on Mac until some steps are taken to bring your computer back to its normal state.

How to fix the MacBook white screen

Before you do anything to solve the Mac frozen screen, try an easy fix: check your peripherals. Try to disconnect all of them (printers, scanners, USB devices, etc.) with the exception of the keyboard and mouse. Then reboot your Mac. If it boots up now, one of those peripherals is the source of the plain white screen problem. However, if it fails and your MacBook won't load, check out other possible ways to wake up your Mac.

1. Boot into safe mode

A safe boot feature in macOS and Mac OS X was designed for troubleshooting purposes. It allows to check the disk for all possible file system errors and if needed, a repair would be run. Starting your Mac in safe mode is the first thing you should do when your Mac won't turn on.

To start up in safe mode:

  1. Press the power button, then immediately press and hold the Shift key.
  2. When you see the Apple logo, release the Shift key.

Once you boot using safe mode, the very first thing is deleting cache files. A cache is a place where data is stored temporarily to help things load faster. But eventually, files in a cache become outdated and start to pile up on your Mac, resulting in a white screen problem. Here's a comprehensive guide 'How to clear cache on a Mac.'

After you've deleted the cache files, you should also remove recently installed applications. But note that dragging them to the Trash is not the right way to remove apps as it leaves behind tons of associated files on your Mac. But don't worry, there is a utility that will help you — CleanMyMac X. Its Uninstaller module is designed to uninstall apps completely, with no leftover parts and pieces behind.

Simply download the app (it's free to try), launch it, choose Uninstaller and select the app you want to delete. Click Uninstall and the application will be removed completely. As simple as that!

As you've removed all the clutter, restart as normal without pressing any keys during startup. Probably you won't see that MacBook white screen anymore.

2. Reset PRAM/NVRAM

PRAM/NVRAM is a small amount of memory that your Mac uses to store certain settings and access them quickly. These settings include sound volume, time zone, startup disk selection, and more. If you experience some issues related to these settings, resetting PRAM might fix your MacBook stuck on white screen.

Here's how to reset PRAM/NVRAM:

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Immediately press these four keys together: Command+Option+P+R.
  3. Hold down the keys until you hear the startup sound.
  4. Release the keys.

When your Mac finishes starting up, you should go to System Preferences and adjust some settings that were reset, such as time zone, display resolution, etc.

3. Use Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

Disk Utility can fix several disk problems, including the white screen on Mac. That's why use it to your advantage if the above steps didn't work.

  1. Restart your Mac holding the Command and R keys.
  2. Release the keys when you see the Apple logo.
  3. Click Disk Utility and then click Continue.
  4. Choose the disk you want to repair.
  5. Click the First Aid button.

If Disk Utility says the disk is about to fail, there's nothing you can do — you have to replace it. If it reports that the disk has been repaired, you're done. You can click Show Details to get more information about the repairs.

4. Reinstall macOS

If all the approaches are failing and you still see that white screen on your Mac, you may need to reinstall your operating system. Don't worry, it won't affect your files, apps, user setting, etc. Only a fresh version of the macOS will be installed on your Mac again. Here's how to do that for macOS Sierra, macOS High Sierra, macOS Mojave, macOS Catalina and macOS Big Sur.

Note that sometimes the standard reinstall methods won't work due to the issues with the drive. In this case, you'll need to use the internet recovery to reinstall the operating system.

Follow these steps to reinstall macOS from the internet:

Black And White (concussiongames) Mac Os 11

  1. Turn on or restart your Mac.
  2. Hold down the Command+Option+R keys until you see the Apple logo or a spinning globe.
  3. When startup is complete, you'll see the Utilities window.
  4. Choose Reinstall macOS and click Continue.

Follow the onscreen instruction to complete the process.

Once you've brought your Mac to life, make sure to do some maintenance to prevent such unpleasant issues in future. A utility we've mentioned above — CleanMyMac X — will help you keep your Mac in shape for years. Apart from cleaning your Mac from all the junk, it gives you access to all maintenance scripts that allow to quickly optimize the system performance and never worry about the health of your Mac.

With the solutions above, you'll fix the white screen problem on Mac, so that it can function as a new one. Cheers!
